ELECTRONIC ORDER
Orders sent electronically to OpenELIS will appear with order, sample, and test information.
Access Electronic Orders:
Click on Incoming Orders.
Click on Order and select a term from the dropdown menu to sort orders.
Search Electronic Orders:
Enter Family Name, National ID, Lab Number, or Patient Number and click Search.
Batch Order Entry
Overview
Used to speed up order entry when processing multiple orders with the same Sample Type, Test, and Facility of Origin.
Example: Entering 100 DBS samples for viral load testing from a hospital.
Setting Up Batch Order Entry (Without Patient Data)
Hover over the hamburger icon and open the menu.
Click on Orders → Batch Order Entry.
Verify Current Date (dd/mm/yyyy) & Time (hh:mm).
Modify Received Date & Reception Time, if needed.
Select a Form from the dropdown menu (e.g., Routine Testing).
Select Sample Type (e.g., Stool Culture).
Choose the Panel(s) and Test(s).
Configure Barcode Entry Method:
Pre-Printed (for existing labels) OR On-Demand (to print labels in OpenELIS).
(Optional) Add Facility ID.
Click Next → Review Details → Click Save & Print.
Scroll to view labels and print barcodes.
Click Next Label for the next sample.
Click Finish when all samples are entered.
Setting Up Batch Order Entry (With Patient Data)
Follow Steps 1-11 from the previous section.
Check the box for Patient Info.
Click Next.
Search for a patient using:
Last Name, First Name, ID Code, or Previous Lab Order Number.
Select the patient from search results OR create a new patient record:
Enter Patient ID, National ID, Name, Date of Birth/Age, and Gender.
Continue with Steps 13-17 from the previous section.
Printing Barcode Labels
Hover over the Order tab → Select Print Barcode Labels.
Under Pre-Print Barcodes, enter:
Number of Label Sets.
Number of Order Labels per Set.
Number of Specimen Labels per Set.
Total Labels to Print.
(Optional) Check the box for Facility ID.
Select Sample Type, Panel(s), and Available Tests.
Click Pre-Print Label to generate barcodes.
Click the Printer Icon to print labels.
