Creating a Cytology Test Order
Follow steps 1-9 under "How to create a laboratory analysis order for an existing patient."
In step 1, click the Program drop-down menu and select Cytology.
Click Next.
Fill in program fields:
Nature of specimen
Site of specimen
Procedure performed
Provisional clinical diagnosis
Previous surgery/treatment
Click Next.
On the Add Sample page:
Select sample type from the drop-down menu (e.g., Tissue Antemortem for Cytology).
System picks date & time.
Fill in the Collector field.
Select immunohistochemistry tests (e.g., AMACR (p 504 s), anti-CD 3).
Click Next.
Fill in the order details:
Scan or enter Lab Number.
Select Priority.
Enter Site name & Requester details.
Select Payment Status.
Select Sampling performed for analysis.
Click Submit.
A "Save Successful" message appears. Click Print Barcode if needed.
Accessing & Processing a Cytology Test
Click the hamburger menu.
Navigate to Cytology Module → Dashboard.
View test requests and statuses:
In Progress
Awaiting Pathology Review
Completed Tests
Use filters:
"My Cases" checkbox for assigned cases.
Status drop-down to filter cases (All, In Progress, Ready for Pathology, Completed).
Search by Lab Number or Patient Name.
Processing Cytology Test Requests
Click on a test request.
Update the test status:
Select Technician & Status (default: Preparing slides).
Add slides:
Click Add Slides, specify locations.
Upload a scanned slide (if needed).
Click Print Label for specimen labeling.
Click Save.
Screening Phase
Click on the request.
Change status to Screening.
Assign Technician, click Save.
Technician reviews slides and changes status to Ready for Cytopathologist.
Assign Cytopathologist, click Save.
Pathology Review & Validation
Cytopathologist selects test request.
Scroll to Specimen Adequacy:
Select Satisfactory for Evaluation or Unsatisfactory.
If Unsatisfactory, additional fields appear for further classification.
If Negative for Malignancy, select Ready for Release and Save.
If abnormalities exist:
Select options under Epithelial Cell Abnormality, Reactive Cellular Changes, Organisms, and Other Diagnosis.
Check Ready for Release and Save.
Technician marks the test Completed in the Cytology Dashboard.
Uploading/Generating Cytology Reports
Navigate to Dashboard, select a patient.
Scroll to Report section.
To upload a report:
Click Upload File, select file, click Open.
Click Save.
To generate a report:
Select reporting item.
Click Generate Report.
Click Save.
